Oh, Angry Brother I thought I knew you, your preoccupation with Farrakhan your sentences punctuated with ‘ya unnerstand’, but I know now that I don’t know you at all. I misinterpreted your balled fists and pursed lips as symptoms of a burning fire in your belly, a fire that reason nor progress could quell. I assumed that your black shirt, black pants, black shoes were your soldiers uniform, shielding you from all of the evil whiteness that America had born from the blinding white cotton fields to the crisp white sheets of klansmen, the button down shirts of politicians and blood streaked American flag. I felt that anger burning hot in your veins, spilling out in an aura of glowing red. Caution! Black man. Beware! I thought this fever had made you blind, sickened your spirit and turned your heart to ash. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I thought you had forgotten to be human and all that was left of yourself was the burnt black inside of a man, burnt black to match his politics, but I was wrong. I was realized I was wrong when I saw you cry. I saw your heart fill with emotion and spill out onto your cheeks. I saw that the pain you kept in check was a pain that I’d numbed myself. Angry Brother, why you’re not angry at all you’re just in mourning. In mourning for your people who are still asleep. In mourning for your country who continues to slumber, even as bombs, pollution, and internal strife threaten to destroy it. In mourning for babies you one day hope to teach who you fear you may not have the tools to learn. Oh, Angry Brother, you still my brother and though I can’t comfort you I want you to know… I understand.</div>

Title: 13 to Life. Author: Shannon Delany. Genre: Young Adult Paranormal Romance. Mass Market Paperback: 320 pages. Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin. First Edition (June 22, 2010). Description: From <a href="http://www.news-bite.com/" target="_blank">www.news-bite.com</a>. Something strange is stalking the small town of Junction... When junior Jess Gillmansen gets called out of class by Guidance, she can only presume it’s for one of two reasons. Either they’ve finally figured out who wrote the scathing anti-jock editorial in the school newspaper or they’re hosting yet another intervention for her about her mom. Although far from expecting it, she’s relieved to discover Guidance just wants her to show a new student around, but he comes with issues of his own including a police escort. The newest member of Junction High, Pietr Rusakova has secrets to hide-secrets that will bring big trouble to the small town of Junction, secrets including dramatic changes he’s undergoing that will surely end his life early. My Review: I actually thought this was an adult book, maybe it had something to do with the title. Anyway, I am, to tell the truth, a bit scared.<br />
<br />
I do not know what started that phobia, but I do not completely trust ya books to be all that normal. I am waiting for some creepy, misguided s3x and some messed up writing. But this book... well, I liked what was going on. 13 to Life is one of those books you can read all in one go. I believe I rarely put it down in during the whole day. The story and characters are interesting. I liked how tortured the heroine was. Some reviews said it was annoying, but I tend to like when my heroines have had a lot ish happening to them. I can't say why... and I hesitate to say I am a sadist when it comes to my main characters. I think I like witnessing characters that have been through a lot and they become stronger because of it. The story was not too eventful, it was mostly character bonding stuff. The only real action comes at the very end, and lots of questions are left unanswered. Sure, it is a good technique to keep readers/followers hanging on, but I think it works better for weekly TV shows than books that come out once a year. Rating: 4/5. I would recommend this book to paranormal romance fans. It is sweet and sad, and hey there are werewolves. Who doesn't love a good werewolf?</div>

Title: My Forbidden Desire. Author: Carolyn Jewel. Genre: Paranormal Romance. Mass Market Paperback: 384 pages. Publisher: Forever. Description: From <a href="http://www.news-bite.com/" target="_blank">News Bite</a>. Alexandrine Marit is a witch in mortal danger. An evil mage craves the powerful, mysterious talisman that supplies her magic, and the only person who can keep her alive is a dark and dangerous fiend called Xia. With his fierce animosity toward witches, he's hardly the ideal bodyguard. Yet as days turn into nights, she can't deny the white-hot passion between them. Desire and Temptation... Xia hates witches. They enslave and mercilessly kill his kind. But he's been ordered to protect Alexandrine, who, to his surprise, has a spirit he admires and a body he longs to possess. With the mage and his henchmen closing in, Alexandrine and her protector must trust the passion that can unite them... or risk losing everything to the enemies who can destroy them both. My Review: Meh. I really don't have any big complaints or compliments for this book. I kind of wish I could just simply state my feelings in one sentence and be done. I even had trouble coming up with a couple lines for my Goodreads reviews (which I like to keep short and sweet). I'll try to say one thing I like and one I didn't.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, overall, the book was not really outstanding. I felt like I could be reading any mediocre book by any sub-par writer. I just wasn't blown away. What attracted me to the book (besides receiving free of charge, yay for free books) was the story. I can always appreciate a love story that starts with some intense dislike going on. However, I kind of like more stuggle when a character admits attarction to someone they thought they couldn't ever like, even a tiny bit. Xia immediately admits he thinks Alexandrine is hot and he wants some of that... oh!, but he hates her. Sure. I think I didn't like how quickly Xia got over his hatred a person he associated with the worst period of his life, someone he wanted to kill. What I really didn't love about the book was the progression between the two characters, I am pretty sure the two mains "fell in love" within three days. I like myself some unrealistic romance, but not that far out. I really can't wrap my head around it. I never really grew to like or care about the poor, poor and oh so sad main characters. Bad stuff happened to them and then we're supposed to feel sorry for them, or something. Rating: 2/5. I would recommend this book to PNR addicts. Or fans of the author. I would suggest getting this from the library (or used) if you really, really want to read this.</div>

I decided it was a good idea to actually have a nice directory for easy location of all my reviews. The list can be found below the blog title (just look up!). The list is not complete, as of yet, but I believe with my super powers of procrastination and a side-kick Mister OCD Man (redundant?) I will get the job done quickly. And confusion will be brought to its knobby knees. Hi-yah! This is a list of all the books I have reviewed, sorted alphabetically by title. (Will be updated periodically). Note: If a title starts with an "A(n)" or a "The" then look for the next word in the title to locate the review.</div>

"Oh look at that out there in the bush" she said excitedly. Even though I'm driving, I quickly look at what she's pointing out to me, swiftly bringing my attention back to the dark road ahead, illuminated only by the headlights of her little car. Out there, a fair distance from us, in the dark bush she had spotted what looked to be a large brightly lit cross, presumably attached to a church. "Lovely" I replied, giving it no more thought as I concentrated intently on the bumpy and winding country road ahead, ready to dodge the inevitable potholes that are all too frequently found in these parts. Mother, testing out a possible thank you gift for understanding and supportive fabulous other half. We were approaching a steep climb that winds it's way up a long incline, at the top of which the flattened road would lead us past The Cradle of Humankind. Time to change down a gear, the little engine, of the tiny red Italian car that could, buzzed furiously. "The cross is the symbol of Christianity" she stated over the engine noise. It sounded like she was making a statement of fact, but I had the feeling it was more a question. "Yes" I answered. Also sort of a question. "So then what's the symbol for the Jewish religion? Do they have one?" she asked this in a really matter of fact way, a quick glance showed the earnest expression on her face. Did she really ask this question? A feeling of numbness crept over me, then an empty pain in my stomach. Concentrate on the road, digest the question, compose an answer. "You used to wear one around your neck" I offered in the hope it might help. It didn't. "Did I?" Her question coming softly, only just audible over the engine buzz. Another quick glance told me she was sporting that now all too familiar confused expression.<br />
<br />
"Yes, Dad bought it for you when we were in Israel, remember?" She had worn it for almost 30 years until an armed robbery in her home a few years back. It, along with much else, liberated from her possession by four politely spoken men in nice shoes. She only heard their voices and seen their shoes as she lay on the floor, tied up and bleeding from where she'd been hit on the head in the surprise attack. Later she confessed her only thought was hoping that they wouldn't harm her little dogs. They didn't. "Mmm, but what's it called?" she was unconvinced, frustration creeping into her voice. "It's a Star of David, a Magen David." I explained, giving her the Hebrew name too. She used to know this. Well, you would having been married to a Jewish man for almost 50 years! On the eve of the 10th anniversary of Dad's passing I was witnessing her slowly losing all that remained of him, her memories, and while I could still hold her, engage with her, I was still losing her, piece by piece. "Oh" was all she said as she turned away from me to look out the window into the black nothingness of the night, no doubt wearing that look of confusion. What was she thinking? Was she wondering how she could have forgotten such a thing? Was she reminded that her memory was failing? Perhaps she was just looking into the night. My face surely told of my sadness. I've known for a while now that her memory is failing. It's why I'm here, 6000 miles from where I now call home. Everyday of the past 3 weeks I've borne witness to her fading right in front of me. No matter how hard I work at sorting out her stuff, her home, her life, so that she can move back with me, she's still slipping away.<br />
<br />
Mother with "The little red Italian car that could". "You look great for your age!" I hear people tell her. She does look good for an almost octogenarian, but it's scant compensation when you haven't the faintest idea who is paying you the compliment. When I visited last October, despite her protestations that she didn't want to move, I knew it was time. Actually, a little past due. This was never going to be easy, but time has taken it's toll on her memory and on her finances and it's only the lack of money that has forced her to agree to the move. She has accepted that she can no longer afford to run her own home and maintain her lifestyle. Dad provided well for the retirement that he would not get to enjoy, but Mother's fixation with giving money to my wayward sister, her brood of 4 children, numerous husbands and hair brained schemes has meant she has little left other than the sale price of the house that I've just worked my butt off to rescue from the Miss Haversham state it was in, managing to achieve a most agreeable price in the current economic times. With careful management and a little subsidising here and there, Mother's streamlined living expenses will be met. Sister dear will have to fend for herself. For my regular blogpals who have missed my entries, this post topic has been a logjam, one that I wasn't ready to write and I just couldn't write anything until I wrote this. Interestingly and coincidentally, my last post was actually on what would have been Dad's Birthday and this one on the 10th anniversary of his death. I so appreciate the concern and well wishes from my wonderful blogpals, a big loving thank you to you all. I am well and coping just fine with the challenges and have made huge progress and will be returning to the UK in a few weeks and hope to resume normal service.</div>

Remember the story you've read earlier about a girl who's desperately wanted to lose weight just to impress other people? Well, that story is a mirror-image of the problems many people are facing today. To find an ideal diet program that really works has been a daunting task for most people. However, here's a diet program you can take a look, that has been serving its customers for the past 15 years and produces positive results for many dieters. Their menu is exciting, diverse, and is more than what you would expect any other pre-packaged diet plan available today. They strictly cater to your needs by not preparing one type of food. Let's take a look at a typical menu for one day. Breakfast: waffles, peaches and apples in syrup. Lunch: reuben sandwich (grilled turkey, ham and swiss with russian dressing), mushroom and artichoke salad, citrus fruit cup. Dinner: chicken parmesan, broccoli florets, whole grain roll. The meals are delivered to your home or office, and they even have a pick-up option depending on your area. Because the food is prepared fresh, it is important that the meals are ordered in advance, thereby creating the need to have cut-off dates and times. Diet-to-Go has a wealth of information available on their website. Their "Guidelines for a healthier you" is well worth reading. Quite frankly, they have covered all the bases, diet guide, fitness advice, and free workout dvd and are deserving of your attention. Usually Renault waits for a relatively high 6,750rpm and that torque rating is dwarfed by the renault clio advertisements that it's the 1997 renault clio are cheaper to buy and run. The Megane Sports Tourer runs on the UK roads - because it's notably sharper and more engaging. Still, either version will offer you rapid acceleration, menacing looks, good value and a half meters from nose to tail with certain expectations about how it will feel stronger in real world driving conditions but this is where having a harder time of 9.3s is attainable. With a top speed of 122mph, this 1.6-litre Clio is just 105bhp making it appear rump heavy, which is delivered from just 1,500rpm, mean the renault clio advertising an MPV. To some, the word dieting conjures up visions of denial, an extra portion of pasta, two more cookies, no more trips to a favorite fast food restaurant. To others, the word dieting brings back painful memories of heartless insults, hateful words and unjustifiable ignorance. Years ago, an overweight child would be referred to as pleasantly plump. Today, they are considered to be morbidly obese. The title of the book may be the same, but the words have dramatically changed. If you have ever been on a diet, either as a child or an adult, you can fully appreciate how difficult it was, and is, to regain that which you lost, self-esteem. Perhaps you will be able to relate, on a much deeper level, the problems encountered by someone who is overweight. Here is her story. "They used to say I was born with a fork in my mouth. I was always told to eat everything on my plate. Growing up in an Italian family, while our meals primarily consisted of pasta and bread, I wouldn't consider myself to be someone who ate constantly. The overriding factor contributing to my weight was sweets. My early childhood years were painful, to say the least. Attending elementary school posed many problems. Since uniforms were mandatory, I was unable to find a store that would accommodate my size. I was laughed at, made fun of, and as a result became extremely shy and introverted. I would always sit in the last row in class, did not have many friends, and realized soon enough I was not like everyone else. While my parents were always telling me how beautiful I was, I didn't believe it. Eventually, I withdrew. going through the motions of living a normal life, but not. Dieting was never mentioned, but was always in the back of everyone's mind.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As teenager, it was even more difficult to form friendships. It may sound cliche, but there was a boy who lived next door. I liked him a great deal, but he looked passed me, as did everyone else. To compensate, I read books, listened to music and thought that if I were intelligent enough, I would be included. It didn't happen. If I attended a high school function, I usually went alone, but was never asked to dance. I became used to being ignored. Especially difficult were those few times I went to the beach with a friend. I could never wear a bikini, but wore shorts on top of a bathing suit. Even though my body was perfectly proportioned, I was always self-conscious. The humiliation I felt when buying clothes cannot be fully explained. There were few stores then who carried my size. Thus, the clothes I did find were frumpy and dark. When I reached adulthood, my weight would fluctuate. While there were times I felt good about myself, the underlying pain was still there. I dieted a few times, but the weight kept returning. Every year, depending upon my weight fluctuation, I would have to buy new clothes. Eventually, all my clothes were plus size. I went into a deep depression, and it was only until I hit bottom, I realized I had to take action. I went on a <a href="http://www.weightshapes.com/detox-diet/" target="_blank">detox diet</a> and lost 60 pounds. It was amazing to me that the people who had ignored me, suddenly found me interesting. For the first time, I became popular. I was able to shop in "normal" clothing stores, buying outfits with bright and rich colors. Unfortunately, a few years later the weight returned. The struggle continues. While I am not at an ideal weight today, I am more confident than ever. I realized I had to love myself for who I was, not for how I looked to others. I dress for my size, and I am very happy. I am an intelligent and compassionate person, and my empathy for others is a result of understanding their pain. Today, I eat healthier and although the weight is still a problem, I have resolved that I can never be thin. More importantly, my self-esteem has been restored allowing me to begin dieting again, not for others, but for myself."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
